Nepenthes alata ‘Pitcher Plant’- is one of the most popular Nepenthes species in cultivation. Nepenthes alata are carnivorous plants. The color and the nectar secretions definitely attract the insects to this plant. This unique group of plants supplement their diet by absorbing nutrients from insects and other small animals. Nepenthes thrive when grown with orchids. The name ‘Pitcher Plant’ comes from the large bulbous pither-like structures that develop on the tips of some of the leaves. They form wonderful hanging pitchers that will surely attract attention. Put them near a partly sunny window and they will definitely be a conversation piece. Nepenthes alata is the easiest to grow of all the species.

More than expected - lovely
Three days ago I received this plant as a gift and it is just as described. This is a healthy plant with a lot of pitchers, large and small. This is without a doubt a wonderful bargain. Don't let the low cost fool you, it is worth the price. Seeing what I have, I would have paid more to own this plant. Right out of the packaging you see a well cared for flower. Packing was excellent, there was not damage to the long, large leaves and the pitcher were not crushed. I am excited to own this and hope to be able to care for it easily. I will come back in a few months and share my growing expericence with this lovely Nepenthes. I would recommend this to others and I will purchase one as a gift for my sister.
