Zamioculcas zamiifolia 'Emerald Fronds' 'ZZ Plant' - An amazing aroid from Africa. Superficially resembles a cycad hence the genus and species name. Produces 2 to 3 foot long pointed spears line with alternating shiny dark leaves. Grows from an underground tuber. Has tolerated subfreezing temperatures down to 24F planted outdoors and returned the following spring. I have a ZZ plant in my sun room which is absolutely beatiful. the plant requires very low maintenance and you can watch the plant when a new srem begins to grow. My ZZ plant will grow approximately 3 feet in two to three weeks. this is a plant that everyone should have in their home.

Easy to grow!
I received a ZZ plant as a Mother's Day gift and again as a housewarming gift. I keep one in my office at work. We work in flourescent lighting. This plant absolutely loves indoors and bright lighting. Everyone that comes in my office has to be convinced that the plant is real because it is of the richest green color and so very healthy. There is a new growth about once every 3-4 months and it grows quickly. It requires little attention to look so great! Definitely a must for a house plant!
